SUKAN Landing Valves are
basically defined and designed, as per IS 5290 Specification.
SUKAN Landing Valves are normally available in one size of
75mm and are designed to deliver at least 900 LPM at 7 Kg/cm2
Inlet pressure and is defined in IS 5290 as type A. 100mm are
also available as occasional cases to deliver 1800 LPM at 7
Kg/ cm2 having 2 outlet, which is defined, as IS
5290 type B.
SUKAN Landing Valves are having Inside
& Outside diameter and thickness of Inlet Flanges as per
IS 5290 only but drilling can be suit the site condition. The
outlet is quick instantaneous female type.

Installation:
SUKAN Landing Valves are having flat
face & hence it is recommended that matching flange should
also be flat face. In case of raised face flange, take care
while keeping gasket and tighten all the bolts i.e. tighten
bolts evenly and uniformly.
Before installing the Landing valve,
flush the pipeline with the continuous flow of water so that
dust/dirt/stone & other foreign particles from the
pipeline are removed. After successful installation also,
flush the pipeline in full open valve condition so that all
the remaining foreign particles are removed.

Operation:
Hand Wheel is provided for opening and
closing of the valve. Please avoid use of spanner/ pipe
wrench, etc. for opening and closing the Landing Valve. Incase
of extra high backpressure it is required to reduce the inlet
pressure to 7 Kg/cm2 max. while, the same can be achieved by
using orifice plate before Landing Valve.
Sometime high backpressure is generated
while opening or closing first or last Landing Valve
respectively. Temporarily one can use ‘F’ handle to
overcome the situation. The reference ‘F’ handle design is
shown in Figure 1 below.
When the Hydrant Valve is in a close
position keep the Male blank cap in adopter to avoid foreign
particles to enter the body of the Landing Valve.

Testing & Maintenance:
The landing valves are to be inspected
and tested at a regular interval for following.
1. Ease operation of Lug assembly:
This can be done by pulling the Lug Assembly several times
& visualize its smoothness.
2. Leakage through the seat in fully
closed position: If leakage is visualized, open the hand
wheel and allow water to pass for some time to remove dirt
on seat if it is there. Then close the valve and observe.
Is still the valve is leaking, open the seat, see Figure 2
below and if it is damaged, replace it.
3. Leakage through Male Blank Cap:
check that Type A washer is properly in the groove of
adapter and without dirt. If the leakage through air vent
hole, repeat the procedure referred in 2 (above)
Each Landing Valve is to be flushed
properly and after testing, Male blank cap has to be kept in
position.

Recommended Spares:
We suggest following parts to be kept as
spares.
1. Rubber seat
2. Rubber Washer Type ‘A’
3. ‘O’ Ring for Bonnet
4. Hand Wheel
5. Nut for Hand Wheel
